Located amid 16 lush acres in a park-like setting in northwest Washington, DC, the Marriott Wardman Park is the largest convention and business hotel in the Nation's Capital. The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel traces its ancestry back to 1918, when Harry Wardman, a Washington developer, opened the 1,000-room Wardman Park Hotel. In 1928, the main building was expanded with the opening of the annex today known as the Wardman Tower (then the East Wing).Substantial additions were made to the property turning it into a full-scale convention hotel, including the 1964 addition known as the Park Tower. In 1980, a 1,350-room Sheraton Washington Hotel replaced the Sheraton Park Hotel, connecting the historical Wardman Tower, the Park Tower and the Center Tower convention/exhibit area. In March 1998, Marriott took over this gem of The Nation's Capital.
